Pian Scairolo
The city of Lugano launched in 2008 a competition for the plan to rethink Pian Scairolo, a vast one
urbanized area, crossed by the Gotthard motorway. Camerana proposes itself as the group leader of a multidisciplinary team that brings together the skills of urban planning, economics, mobility and landscape. The competition requires the passage of a pre-selection phase: only the best 14 groups (including 5 + 1 and Metrogramma, which will later be partners in various competitions) are invited to the final phase to submit a proposal. The request is to rethink an area at the bottom of the valley of about 1 million square meters of land area, in the context of the growth of the “big Lugano”, in terms of reorganizing existing functions and introducing other functions not yet present, with new volumes, new areas and landscape rearrangements, with analysis of existing / generated traffic and corrective interventions and the economic return generated.
